Just on a whim I ran a search on the keywords 'life cast maks' on ebay and it turned up some pretty amazing stuff. Here is the link
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odk....Xlife+cast+mask&_nkw=life+cast+mask&_sacat=0

I have been sculpting from photos, but it would be great to have an actual life mask of a subject as a resource in addition to the photos.... so far I haven't found any subjects I'm interested in, but I have just started scrolling through the first of 4 pages of offerings.

The James Cagney life mask came in today. Its just his face no ears, but I can't describe how excited I am to actually touch the face of a subject instead of looking at images. I probably won't even start on him till next year, but I will be able to study him before that time on film and on my desk :)

Are your sure about that antonio? They look the same to me. BTW, that is an awesome link there!
I just want everyone to know you can get the masks for cheaper (depending on your mailing address) by visiting their site https://www.hauntedstudios.com/
I just ordered a Hitchcock life mask and total with shiping and tax was 41 bucks.

you're welcome RKapuaala, I'm pretty sure about it, I wanted to get a copy for myself for my sculpting research as well and looked for it across the net everywhere to my surprise if you closely compare pictures of the original , nose and many other flaws show up, I wont trust any online mask sale unless actually seen clear and authentic pictures of the real thing, sadly someone has spread that fake copy and many dont know...
the Smithsonian web is amazing, the 3d Lincoln mask is very handy for sculpting, perfect reference, if you are redoing your Lincoln make sure to give him asymetric eyes! cheers

Well, then it's a good thing I didn't purchase it!
As far as asymetry is concerned, I've been struggling with it. His nose and mouth are really askew and his ears are at odds with each and his lips seem like he had a stroke. I subdue it because I feel like without his spirit, people will find his image hard to look at. That being said, I do think I went too far on the previous sculpts and need to add back just a touch.
