1:12 scale Octavius Wizard by Black Crow

Different for me, that is. A different genre. A different scale. And a different challenge.

Beautifully cast, great detail and very little in the way of cleanup required. Test fitting of parts shows Black Crow paid a lot of attention as to how everything would all fit together. Great job, my hat's off to them.

The wizard's hat first?? Seems like a bass ackward place to begin. I first wanted to decide the color of the wizard's hat and robe... black was too obvious, too "wizardy" as Steve might say. And there were already several dark green wizards and I didn't want to do another. so a color test was called for and where better to begin than on the hat? I chose burnt red for the base coat with black red and violet red for shadows and highlights, all Vallejo. And then because I didn't want our friend to appear to be too haute couture with his chi chi, fancy, dancy hat I chose to go blah with the hat band and opted for AK's WW1 feldgrau. Lemme know what you think....

Hi Rick

Nice to see the paint flowing on this ....like the colour of the hat , possibly put more highs and accentuate the brim edges

The scarf being darker works well against the main colour

Looking at this it feels like your enjoying this being on the bench

Following with interest looking forward to seeing more

Thanks for the suggestion, Nap. I agree with you so I've added some more highlights and accentuated the brim of the hat. There isn't a heluvalot of difference between the original hat and the revised hat. I hesitate to go any farther as I like the burnt red base coat and don't want to turn it purple with too many or too strong highlights. Lemme know what you think.
Rick

PS: You're right, I'm enjoying this guy immensely - so different from anything I've done before. His spell/magic book is next on the agenda. The printed pages pose a particular problem but I think I may have a solution - we'll see.

Nice colour Larry. Like the pages, did you use decal paper, or just thin plain paper?
