Well a few hours on ebay and the first 3 figures for my new grey army have arrived.

Two are old 90mm Barton figures Union Infantry 1863 and Greek light infantry time of Alexander 400BC. The last is a large scale (160mm?) figure of an English Grenadier of 1750. Not sure who made the last figure but I recall reading a review about him in a late 1970's or early 1980's issue of the old Military Modeler magazine as I recall the company made two other figures in this scale a pikemen of the English Civil War and an English infantrymen of 1705. As the pic shows the figure is very detailed (that little baggy holds individual buttons for the leggings!) but as the pic also shows the rifle has not survived the test of time very well being very deformed and bent. Anyone know the company who made the big guy? I would love to know. I think the Barton Union infantrymen is going to be the first figure I attempt after my 20+ year hibernation from figure painting. The Greek light infantrymen is well sculpted and cast but in hindsight I am not sure I like the pose seems to scripted or stiff to me. Any coments welcome I will keep everyone appraised as I go forward.
