He's a bit fancy even for a hussar. At least you don't need to draw the lace on on freehand. You have to admire the sculptor who put them on to give us an easier ride.

Here’s a bit of a diversion from my thread on the Polish Lancer…
I do admire the sculptor’s work. My friend asked how much lace does a uniform need before it qualifies as lingerie?
This is my favourite Napoleonic uniform and I have sculpted full figures of him twice and heavily converted a Historex fig. to represent him. In each case the braid on his sleeves and thighs were free handed. I’ve also done him in a bust at about 1/5.

I can imagine how frustrating that lace, good news is your efforts really look the part and with as you suggest some inks strategically placed it will be one to be proud of..

Thanks Simon. The lace is done except for the addition of some ink washes. I also revised his chapska oak leaf band colour and the cockade. Next up….pouch belt, chains and Legion award, and then his “white” kurtka.

Glad to hear Malc. Cat got me up at 3 AM so I spent 2 hours painting his pouch belt. Arg. Now back to bed.

Had a brief read on Fournier, gosh he was a bit of a lad, almost the epitome of a Hussar and not all good either.
The lancer is coming on really well.

I must admit I have never seen it but from the comments I have read on PF it sounds like I should. I take it one of the protagonists is or is based on Fournier. He was one for a duel and was castigated by Napoleon for it for provoking unnecessary duels for the fun of it, so I read.

A must see film. My favourite film since my teens and never displaced. Based on a Joseph Conrad short story. Superb costuming, acting, settings and score. Yes the Feraud character is based on Fournier.
A favourite bit of trivia: When Ridley Scott and crew arrived in the little town of Sarlat, France for the location shoot, they unknowingly and coincidentally had arrived in Fournier’s home town. Talk about an omen! You and Nap need to see this film.

Love that plastron colour as for the ‘swirlies’ .......looking good so far .....your doing a really good paint on this which as you say is not anyone with a ounce of sense
.........I should be okay then 
The whites are coming together nicely looking at the last update
As for the next project ....blimey from one extreme to another ....and smaller scale !

Almost done. Replaced the support for the aiguillettes with a ball of stick tack to increase access to his kurtka. Just the rear piping, epaulettes and aiguilettes, his cast base, and clean up to complete.

Thanks Nap. I’m always a bit wary of posting too many pics but looking back over this I think I’ve showed the evolution of the project without getting to an actual SBS level of detail.
As they say a picture says a thousand words ........you’ve successfully showed the evolution of the piece to a work of art
