Hello
I was wondering if anyone out there has painted the recent 90mm Polish Lancer by Andrea.
I recently got one of these and before I start I wondered if there were any hurdles to be prepared for and if you had any pics out there.
I will post mine as I work through this.
Many thanks
Graham

Hello Graham, I've only ever seen pictures of this one, never seen one in the flesh. Please let me know how good it is. Does it compare with Poste Militaire or Pegaso in the same scale?

As far as pic's are concerned, try Andrea's website. If you have the patience, I know of a book that's going to be published in English later this year which would be indespensible to anyone painting a lancer. It's out in French now, but will be in English in the New Year. Personally, I'm waiting.
It's by a bloke called Jouineau, search under that name and you'll find it. His books are indispensible. Ignore amazon's claims of 'available in 3-5 weeks'. It isn't. I ordered it in June, along with another on hussars. Then got told it 'wasn't available'. Just wish they'd have been honest in the first place. If you do get any result, please let me know

All the best

Hi, there are many books and color plates this is a small list that may be can help you.

The best of "French" Napoleonic Uniforms

I made it some years ago and need to be update, but it got the basics, also got some of the Rousselot plates so if you want I can send it to you, just send me a e-mail to [email protected].

Hi all
Thankyou for your replies and help-I therefore thought that as there seems to be little on the forum about this figure a quick review might help anyone intending to buy this fig. I have also included some pics.
My apologies if this is now in the wrong post but I hope to continue this as I make it and being a slow worker it might actually help me finish it sometime this century.

The figure retails at Historex for £111.30+pp
It comes in a very sturdy foam lined box and I must say more care has been given to the packaging and actual packing than other Andrea figs-But for the price I expect this.

All is cast in metal and there are numerous parts. The finer details come in plastic bags and looking at the very easy to follow instructions all seem fairly straight forward-I HOPE.

Even the moustache is seperate and the lance comes as a piece of alluminium tube that is required to be cut. A good thing I believe and will stop it bending over time.

The horse, with three hooves on the ground and locating by pegs should stand the test of time.

The overall quality is very good-BUT I did buy the figure soon after release. Only time will tell if the quality lasts as the moulds age!!!!!!

The metal seems a very good quality and the casting I would say is just short of Poste Militaire, but not far off.

Well thats it for the minute. Please look at the pics if you are interested and I look forward to posting him as he comes along.

Kindest regards

Graham

Graham, you're a star mate, that's exactly the kind of appraisal I was after. As you say, it certainly ain't cheap but, if the quality is there.......
