Once again I'm behind the 8 ball - looking for a copy of the acrylic painting VHS in NTSC. Searched the net, couldn't find it on Squadron's site (never can find anything) etc. Any help would be appreciated! Hope this hasn't gone the way of the FAQ Acrylic book...@$175! Non-existant or ridiculously expensive

Are you talking about the OLD video from Andrea? If so, I saw it on youtube once. Broken down into different parts. Just type Andrea painting with acrylics. Or something to that effect.

If its the old Andrea tape that Jim mentioned...save your money. You'll learn more by reading Cartacci's book or just perusing this forum than you will off the tape. Very basic, comprehensive but not detailed. The definition is mediocre and the lighting is such that you have to assume more than you can see. If this was your first foray into painting, I'd say go for it. But I think you've been doing this long enough now you're past this rudimentary how to.

Roger that gents, thanks for the heads up. I had a flood in the basement 3 weeks ago and lost many of my modeling books, so thought this DVD might be a good reference replacement. I do appreciate your posting on this.

I'd stick with the forums Tony. That way you can ask a specific question, and get a response in real time as it were.

Yes, I lived in a basement in Il, in Chicago in fact, a nasty moist place that grew fungi. Nothing will recover your ruined stuff, but if you are a married man, you may want to consider having your wife sleep in the basement and keeping the important stuff, like your books and figures, in the bedroom. :awesome:

Tony, FWIW, Squadron no longer carries Andrea products. With the exception of mostly resin/plastic figures for a/c and armor, they got out of the historical miniatures business a few years ago. They do show one acrylic painting DVD from Masterclass, but it's OOS.

You may want to look at the Cool-Mini-or-Not site; they have a variety of DVDs addressing acrylic figure painting. The DVDs are usually oriented toward 30mm gaming minis, but the techniques are the same regardless of scale.

Cheers,

Glen

Sure, you bet! That will be the last I have to worry about any hobby again!!!

Tony,
Sorry to hear your loss:thumb down: But Xmas is coming and Santa can bring you some new Stuff.(y)(y)(y)

Nah John, I had to invest in a computerized backup sump pump, carpet cleaning and 3 kids. Dad will be lucky to get coal in his stocking! (Though I have ordered a "few" things that I wrapped for myself, and will magically appear under the tree!). But it's all good! Happy Holidays to you and yours!!

Thanks for the info! I just don't care for Squadron's search engine - and I'm not an aircraft guy. We have a GamesPlus shop near by who carries these types of DVD's - I'll see what they think.:)

Hmmm, not sure why you're having issues with the Squadron search engine. I found their entire range of DVDs on the first shot simply by searching for DVD/CD under 'Type' on their Search page.

There are programs out there where you can save a video off of youtube. Then play it back on your own video player. Or, make your own DVD. Could be more practical money wise. Just sayin.......
