Bogowie ! Dios mio!
Absolutely sad, nothing but very sad news indeed!
I learned about Angus' sudden departure to the Halls of Valhalla while reading some discussion about Osprey books elsewhere this morning.
I have been collecting Osprey books chiefly because of his vivid reconstructions of warriors of the past.
I can say that I cherish and admire his earlier - prior to AD 2000- work, and absolutely appreciate his amazing contribution to the art of military/fantasy illustration.

Also, some of his best work was done for now sadly defunct publisher Montvert Pub.

Pacem aeternam, Angus

He was truly one of my all time favorite artists His work has truly inspired me over the years. I look back at my book case and I could not tell you how may books I have with his work in them. I would buy books just because they had his work in them, even if it was not a subject that I was in to. When Rick Scollens passed away some years ago I wondered if his friend Keith Durham would find some one to take his place for doing the paintings for The Border Reivers book they were working on together. When I saw that it would be Angus McBride I was quite happy. I will truly miss seeing any new work from him. But we still have his body of work to enjoy. RIP Mr. McBride you will be missed.
