The last weeks i have been working on this bust from Nutsplanet,
It was my intention to created a young naughty red hear pirate without the hat, because it is a challenge to paint the bandanna. My son finds she looks also like a young gypsy.

I hope you like it a bit, it is still possible to change some things.

I have painted it in acrylics, critique and proposals are welcome

Hello Jan,
Excellent brushwork, i admire the white dress and the detailed work on the belt and gun!
The flesh tones are very realistic and she looks naughty enough!
Congratulations!!!

That's some VERY nice painting that's gone on there. Nothing to criticise at all, and the bandana is fabulous. Great detail painting on that, and some nice smooth female flesh tones as well. The musket is likewise brilliant.

Have to say that I'm not entirely convinced by the face on this sculpt. Just something about it that I can't quite put my finger on. But that takes nothing away from your superb paint-job.

She looks great Jan, the only thing I can see that I think could do with a rethink are the eyes. I think as they are, it gives her an innocent look that would only have been a distant memory to Anne. Apart from that (y)(y)(y).
Best wishes, Gary.

Gorgeous painting as said above. I think it is the mouth that is not quite right on this bust but it is a striking figure and very nicely painted.

Its anatomy of the sculpt that doesn't let the painter to get full potential out, Jan's painting is excellent though.

What you guys quite rightly sensed as "not right" is an asymmetry in left and right side of her face (way beyond a natural asymmetry). There is also a wide space between the eyes (should be one eye width) and other small issues. Strangely, Kabuki models Ann Bonny has similar eye problem...

Jan, your painting is fantastic, I absolutely love skin tones and freehand on bandana is just right.

Nice paint work Jan ,I like the pattern on the bandanna . When I first saw this bust, the eyes really put me off but it has since grown on me and I think she has a lot of character .

Beautiful, the 3/4 shots from the rear could be photos of a real person, hair is superb, you've got some real depth in there, bandana is excellent as well. As for what everyone else is saying, the sculptor is excellent, most Nuts Planet busts are based on a real person from film or TV, so lots of reference pictures, to ease the other sculpts , in my eyes, the Fallschirmjaeger looks like Patrick Stewart, Teutonic Knight looks like Kurt Russell, it's only when imagination is used on faces with no real base of reference that they go a bit "off", she looks like a caricature of a young girl, not that the sculpt isn't brilliant, I've got it on order, but yes the bridge of the nose is too wide, I suppose this could be changed as the original prototype Shieldmaiden face bore no resemblance to the finished kit, love your paint work, will write in my diary "i must try harder" well done.
Regards.
Mick
