Not wishing to get a drubbing here but it does seem to me that the anti bust is tending to piggy back on somebody else's vision and hard work , surely if not legally then morally the original bust and idea belongs to the original producer to add to and do with as he wishes I know Gordon Mitchell has added to the busts he produces and made them into full figures at a later date and visa versa and surely that should be his perogative to do so as he wishes? Just a thought and as I say don't want to offend anybody here but I'm pretty sure I would feel Mightily naffed off if I was A Producer somebody did this to a work I was selling even if I was to benefit from it , a bit of a contradiction I know ...it just smacks a bit of sharp practice to me but I do see how it would have some appeal....the toy story analogy I thought was very apt Carl .....Kevin

Like I said Pawel. it is an open market! You can produce what ever you want to! But to produce a product catering for a small percentage of a small market. is a difficult position to start from. But I guess the sales will dictate if it is to be a successful Venture.
The Toy Story metaphor is to explain, you are piggy backing someone else's artwork! Without Young's permission. It seems!
Why not produce your own bust, offer that to the market. sell that! then offer a pair of legs for that piece. you are maximising the sales potential of the piece. Rather than basing your success on someone else's success!

But again this is only my opinion.

Hi. It's time to stop this storm.
Before I started promotion my antibust on Planet Figure and negotiations with distributors I spoke and wrote an e-mail to Aleksandros and Young to get their approval and I got it. I knew that my idea of Antibusts will make so much problems (moral – piggy back and autor’s law). I want to have Starkiminiatures’ position clear.
I’ve made figures for 20 years. I prefer full figures and I done fulfilling for few beautiful busts whose I wanted have as full figure. I think maybe not only I preffer full figures. After this discussion I know that there are modellers who think like me. I don’t want to use anybody fame, name or trade marks to do financial success. I know that it is very small piece of market. I’ve already done a full figure which is in pre-poduction stage and I’m working at next two. I hope that this informations cut off this discussion. Thanks everybody for opinions

I dont see the same way. I think of it as buying hot dogs from one brand and buns from another.
Still, this is something that the buyer decides. And if there already is a full figure out a potential buyer is more likely to go with that one. And even if its not, he still has to buy the bust.

Isnt the principle just as same as Hornet heads and hands? Its only catering for the ones who wants something a bit different. And I think Adrian has hit the Nail. It is very doubtful it will a profitable solution, especially given the scale.

Cheers

I do not understand all the fuss, as long there is a bust of the SS man already? Had Young to make at this time in front of it a full figure that? Probably not!
I still remember vividly the great moaning with each new half-length figure, why not a full figure, where are the legs - need only think of the Highland Piper of Carl Reid, which he then brought a full out!
So why should Pawel, more so if he has hedged to not close this gap? Finally, he does not copy any figures, but offers supplements.
That's what other manufacturers also, heads, arms hands and so on.

Furthermore, the market who wants to wait, he gets the full figure of Young, or another manufacturer regulates the offer, who can do it, everyone else can buy the legs yes at Starki.

I think it will not make the big manufacturers do not Starki poorer and rich!

Just my 2 cents!

Hendryk

Janne you are faster !

Pawel,

I support you 100%

You got permission ahead of time.....END OF STORY!

What's next in the pipe line? Any American soldiers?

Great to hear Young and Alexandros have approved your venture Pawel, and kudos for going to the moral high ground to approach them in the first place.
I wish you all the best with your venture and will keep a close look on your releases, including the full figures.

Adrian

You have answered the initial question perfectly and agree it was a good moral thing to do even if not required and with the support of the manufacturers :), which it what I was basically getting at.

I also wish you the best for the future.

Best wishes

Good to hear you did contact the manufacturers and they aproved your antibusts... well done.

It was a good discussion anyway.

Mario

It is nice to learn that not all manufacturers see these antibusts as an artistic "antisupport" and of course that you contacted them before going commercial. Good luck Pawel - to get it right over here you now just need to avoid coming up with "another German"-antibust:D.
Cheers, Martin

For me the permission sought from the original producer was always the issue ,You have it so no problem in my view.........in that case good luck to you with this...Kevin

you could have a crack at supplying the missing bits for this one, ;)

Could be the other way round as well, now that you can buy the legs some people might now buy the bust

I know I would have 5-10 of Youngs kits if they were full figures , this may actually serve both parties. The only thing is that I would hope the legs are a fair bit cheaper than the bust
