Hi All
The Devils Horsemen refers to the eastern steppe tribes
that swept across Europe in the 12th century

This Flat is one of many (too many) and is painted in oils.

Hi Frank!

Looks good. How long ago did you do him?

Wanting to do a flat; getting very tempted.

Hey Frank,

Considering their lifestyle, it's a good choice of earthtone colors very well done. I bought a flat 2 years ago or so but I'm still ascared to start it.

Mike, you'll never know till you try.
painting flats is like painting by numbers with blending.
dip your toe in and have a go.

Thank's Bob

Rob, Mike, have a go.
Flats only seem mysterious due to their lack of availability,
in comparison with the figures in kit form we are all used to.

In terms of painting, no real difference at all
the detail is all there, the perspective is worked out.
simply identify the area and where the light hit's it
and go from there.

Go for it

Of course, you guys are correct. I bought a flat Mameluk at the Chicago show in 2002 but so far have picked it up only long enough to move it out of the way to get to something else. Maybe if I prime him , I'll be tempted to add him to the mix of current projects. The more I look at that Mongol & some of the other flats in the gallery (Guy H's spring to mind), I may just do that.
