USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage is an upcoming American epic action-adventure war film directed by Mario Van Peebles and written by Cam Cannon and Richard Rionda Del Castro. The film stars Nicolas Cage,Tom Sizemore, Thomas Jane, Matt Lanter, Brian Presley, and Cody Walker. Principal photography began on June 19, 2015 in Mobile, Alabama. September 1, 2016 has been announced as the film's official release date.

Plot

In 1945, the USS Indianapolis, led by Captain Charles McVay (Nicolas Cage), delivers parts of the atomic bomb that would later be used to level Hiroshima during the ending of World War II. While patrolling the Philippine Sea, on July 30th, 1945, the ship is torpedoed and sunk by a Japanese submarine. 300 crewmen go down with the ship, while the rest climb out of the ship and are left stranded at sea for five days without food, water and left among shark-infested waters.
Without any hope for 5 days, most of the crew are eaten by sharks or die of salt-water poisoning by drinking sea water. On the 5th day, the crew are rescued by an airplane pilot who spots them by chance and calls for a rescue. Only 317 survive the disaster. Looking for a scapegoat for their own negligence, the navy court-martials and convicts Captain McVay for "hazarding his ship by failing to zigzag" despite overwhelming evidence supporting McVay.

Clearly this is, or seems to be purely for the 'American', audience. The last military film Nic Cage was in was 'Wind talkers', which could have been good! but was not!:(

Well, I'm sure that since it's clearly for an "American " audience it will be atrocious, just like everything about America . That seems to always be your opinion and something you seem to fixate on. When did America touch you in your "bad" place?

Err? Steve.

I am not sure what you are saying here! ..

But, there is a difference between targeted audience, and subject matter when it comes to cinema and countries. This is all I am saying! :)

However, I am really confused why you think I have any issue with America. I have made two throw away comments, on this and another thread both supposed to be light hearted and tongue in cheek humour. Nothing more.

So? do you not think it is a little unfair to, (Quote).. That seems to always be your opinion and something you seem to fixate on. When did America touch you in your "bad" place? (Un-Quote).

You are quite wrong about this aspect.

Regards,

Mark.

Could be a decent movie, but as it has been said, this is the second one on the Indianapolis. What about the Juneau with the Sullivan Brothers? That could be quite interesting.

Hi
From the trailer it looks good ....and it has to have mass audience appeal
it may have some historical inaccuracy
But then a lot of my favourite films have

If you want a documentary go for the History channel or National Geographic

I gave up criticising Hollywood epics for having 1st century Romans
riding with stirrups a long time ago ....:)

Just a thought
