Completed Another Pmc Kharkov Mg42 Gunner...

Hi all. Finished this one just before the MMSI show. This is a figure from PMC Miniatures and is a John Rosengrant sculpt so right off the bat you know it will be of HIGH quality. figure went together very well, very minimal clean up, not much more to be said really. As usual he is painted in Vallejo acrylics with Citadel paints for the metallics.

Hi Brian. I know this figure is available only through PMC Miniatures directly but not sure if there are any available as I'm pretty sure it was a limited run of like 150 pcs. or something close to that number. As for other figures by John, most of his work was released by Warriors, S&T, Kirin and New World Miniatures which are now basically all defunct (I think Warriors might still be around through Squadron but don't think too many if any that are available are Rosengrant sculpts) so your best bet is probably the private sellers forums or E-BAY. One thing about the MG belt, to me the weathering looks more stylised than the painting of most of the rest of the kit which makes it jump out.

I don't know how I paint so fast Carl. Maybe it is because I work on 1 project at a time?? In my opinion it allows be to go pretty hard on it so it seems to pass the time quickly. Thanks alot buddy!

Whats up Einion. I'm not sure what you mean by stylised?? Could you clarify for me and please pardon my ignorance.

Less naturalistic or realistic; looks like an effect arrived at during the painting process rather than mimicking a type of wear that might naturally occur. I tried to find a pic to show the kind of thing I was thinking of but no luck I'm afraid!

Ok so you think the ammo belt is to pristine looking. I guess I could try and tone it down a bit although the effect is much more difficult with metallics. I'll see what I can come up with. Maybe I will try to age the rounds a bit by mixing a little english uniform with some brass. Thanks for your input.

I'd leave the rounds as they are.

yea I kinda took that into account as well Carl. I kinda get what Einion is saying though, they kinda jump out a bit but I'm leaning towards keeping them as they are.

Oh ok. That changes things LOL! I just wanted to try something a little different regarding the leather strap. I figured since it is a prominent part of the figure (being right up front where it is easily seen)it deserved a little extra detailing. It is strictly by choice that I decided to try this effect so whether it is realistic or not I'm not sure. I got a couple of positive comments about it on another board so I guess the viewer will decide. Again thanks for your feedback.

Hello Dan, I also agree with Carl about the great painting of the Parka. I'm working on a similar figure by Jeff Shiu, and would appreciate knowing what Vallejo colors you used to paint it? Whats up SG. For the parka I use strait Vallejo field gray mixed with white for the hi-lites. That is pretty much it.
