I tried to sell some stuff on Ebay and when I tried to upload them it wouldn't let me because it says I had registered in another country which I haven't. Now they're asking me to send driver licence, ID, proof of address and passport scans. Is this some kind of scam?

Ive been on Ebay for years.

this happened to anyone else recently?

Hi Grant,
If I were you I run ensure you check for updates, then run a full security scan and if need be roll back your PC to an earlier time just to make sure you have not been compromised. If the problem still exists ensure you contact ebay by phone to sort the problem out.
cheers

Cheers guys,

Nope no bank details asked and I would never give them anyways unless it was a Nigerian fella calling from the Cape Horn branch of Western Union.

I have a good anti virus and everything looked Kosher including the padlock, mentioning my actual name and stuff.

Ah well I guess I'll reformat my pc tomorrow then down, test and adjust to see what gives.

Thanks fellas.

I came across a load of Saddam's gold. If you send me $400 I'll give you 75%, I'm guessing $35,000,000.
Please contact my agent in Nigeria, and the money is yours mate.;)

Richie's right, spot on; this is a scam from some very clever scallywags. I experienced something similar, although not selling--just my general Paypal account.

As a rule of thumb I ignore everything.
Learned this early in my career (pre internet) a colleague deputised for our boss and for six months didn't open a single letter or package from the hundreds that built up.
Day before boss returned he filled bin bags with the lot and took them to the incinerator. Not a single thing came back to bite him. I regard this as one of my great life lessons (y)
