Thanks for the comments ...enjoying this a lot ..off to do a couple of buckles that will be the horse finished ...made a start on the companion piece inbetween eating biscuits at my mate Jimbo's emporium .
Just catching up Nap...............Great work;very impressive.......The creativity and changes you've added look like a lot of fun....much more so than going straight from the box...............Keep up the good work..........Regards.....Wayne
Thought I would post some more iffy pics this time of the completed horse on the final base ...there will be an appropriate badge on the front ..coming from Australia! ...hopefully it will fit .
Will again revist the horse just to check everything goes together with the rider when he is done .
Haven't done much more apart from base colours as Mrs Nap isn't too well ( tummy bug etc) been doing my Nursey bit ...and yes I do look good in the black stockings and uniform!!
This is excellent work! Your horse almost feels alive, superb use of your brush. The blending of your colours cannot be seen. Great transition's! .. Now this is really eye catching stuff!
Thanks to you all for the response on the horse ...I am pleased with the eyes especially ..if I do another I think I might add a fly protecting fring on the horse for a bit of variety ...now there is something for someone .....not me as my horse is waiting patiently for its rider !!
As you might have guessed can't sleep so here is an update on the rider ...I painted the Kharki shirt completely put it against the horse and ......then proceeded to strip it off again..too much dark colours ...so he will now be wearing a gray/ blue shirt ..suitably sweat stained ..if I can pull it off!
Spent a couple of hours or so...base coating him (and a " few" others .....more in a later planned thread) so he now looks like this ...a solid base colours for everything ..prior to this I detailed up the waterbottle straps and bottle cord .
Going to aim at getting a variation on the leather areas with the shirt a lot lighter! ...the light has washed the colur from the apple its a lot greener !.....will be referencing apples!
Really enjoying this piece despite stripping him back!...must admit the total dedication between horse and rider has really hit home when researching I hope my finished piece pays my respect and admiration for the horse and riders of all nations that suffered together in WW1
Finally got around to visiting this site. Really nice work on the horse Kevin. I think this is one of your best ever. I love how you've done the white flash on the horses face. Superb. The rope gives a good contrast and the eyes are really full of life. You really have found your forte here mate. Mrs Nap is surely proud.
