BMSS COMPETITION CLASSES 2018

BMSS Free Non-BMSS £1 per entry

All advertised classes are open to both members and non-members

Class 1: Single foot figures up to 54mm “standard” size.

Class 2: Single foot figures above 54mm size.

Class 3: Single mounted figures, any scale.

Class 4: Vignettes. Up to three figures (any scale) with a common theme, mounted on a common base.

Class 5: Groups and dioramas, open or closed. A larger presentation of any number of figures (any scale, including flats), with or without associated equipment. Groundwork is expected but not mandatory. Flats on a related theme grouped in a frame, with or without supporting scenery, may be entered in this class.

Class 6: AFVs, softskins and artillery, any scale, with or without crew. Where a base is used, this is to be simple; elaborate scenes should be entered in Class 5.

Class 7: “Toy soldiers”, any number up to a maximum of 30. These may be figures originally sold as toys or their modern equivalent. Figures may be converted and can be presented in any manner.

Class 8: Converted and scratchbuilt figures, any scale. A card describing the work done MUST accompany each entry.

Class 9: Busts. That part of the figure above the waist which may include arms. Non-military entries are acceptable. The Society retains the right to remove any entries thought inappropriate.

Class 10: Non-military pieces of any type including fantasy figures. The Society retains the right to remove any entries thought inappropriate.

Class 11. Junior Class. Entrants must be aged 16 or below on the day of the Show. Entries may be single figures, groups, vehicles etc. Fantasy and wargame figures may be entered in this class.

Class 12. “Homecoming”. Must contain figures, either single figures or groups of any size, with no restriction on type, scale, style, or period, but entries must reflect the theme of returning home from war.

Special awards: “Best Irish Model Soldier” and “Presidents Medal”, to be selected from the above classes

Footnote 1: In the event of any doubt on the day, the Chief Judge will advise and allocate models to the most appropriate class.

Footnote 2: “Mounted” means accompanied by an appropriate animal. This includes fully mounted, mounting or dismounting, standing by your mount, or taking cover behind a dead mount.

Footnote 3: Any additional information you provide, regarding extra work done, is always helpful to the judges in classes other than scratchbuilt/converted (where it is mandatory).
