Hi Folks
After a long time painting only WW2 figures,I come back to the ancient side.
I'm going to paint this figure of the gaul chieftain, from spanish manufacturer Ares Mythologic (www.aresmythologic.com), based on a well known statue, commemorating the battle of Alesia in 52bc.

The face finished at last.Still working on the hair though...
I've done some colour proves for clothes. At least one of them will have a pattern
I'm painting the bronze chest protection mixing little ammounts of Vallejo's bronze paint mixed with different brown paints

Hope you like it

Jaume that's an excellent face you got there. I can't wait to see more of this figure. Keep it up.

Hi Jaume,

Looks very good so far. What is the reason you are mixing metallic paints again? In your hopliteI have there were no metallic paints used I believe and to me he looks stunning.

I too would love to paint something nonWWII, but too much contracts on WWII stuff prevent me from doing one. Maybe one in between ;)

Keep up the excellent work my friend and see you at Euro,

Gino

Hi folks
Thanks for the nice comments.

Frank.Good luck with it.I think it's a very nice figure and you'll enjoy a lot painting it.

Gino.I'm always trying new effects.I want an strong contrast on this figure and the metallic paint gives shining highlights and add strenght to the shadows.

Hi Jaume
I am going for greater contrasts
Painting over a black primer

Following Calvins methods from his book
all a bit of an experiment .. not looking too bad at the moment

welcome any comments

Espero poder verla al natural.
Saludos Jose Luis.

Hi Jaume,

Yaap agree with you, once in a while need to step out of WWII figures for more vibrant colors... always amaze any figure get into your hand you bring life out of it especially the face. Looking forward to the finish piece.

I am currently painting the Alpine WWII Dak Panzer Officer, using your shots in extreme modelling magazine as reference..but you really set the standard beyond reach, so have to paint different tone, I set for offwhite tops and desert yellow bottom for a change. Take care.
