Hey Richie, great work on this series of dios. Quite rightly, the gentleman offering the two fingered salute, been identified as Jack Reynolds, however he's not a 'Para'. He is 2nd Battalion, South Staffordshire Regiment, who were an 'Airborne' battalion that were transported in gliders, as opposed to parachuting into the fray. One of the veterans visited the regimental museum a few years ago (he may be the gent slightly behind Jack, holding a cigarette) and told the staff that he told Jack, words to the effect of, " For ****'s sake Jack, pack it in, you're going to get us all shot." In the series of pics supplied by Panzer 22, Jack is the 'most disgruntled man in Arnhem', sitting cross legged in front of the seated group of POW's.

For your info, if you want to incorporate it into your figure, rather than wearing a camo faceveil/scarf, Jack wore an orange scarf at the battle, possibly to identify with the Dutch populace. He is shown thus, in V sign pose, as a life sized mannequin at the Staffordshire Regiment Museum, Whittington Barracks, Lichfield. If I wasn't such a technophobe I would have downloaded a pic from my phone. If I can find a 12 year old to assist me I'll attach the pic at a future date!!! Jack was the last but one mannequin I created at the museum (final one was a mounted figure), before I retired in April. I can tell everyone that making 1-1 scale is a lot more challenging than any 120mm resin kit.

This project seems to be growing in size, I couldn't even think about taking on a challenge like this.

Oops missed a few days, good progress and nice info re Jack Reynolds, jumping in is one thing but a glider, not a cat in hells chance. One thing, this project is epic in scale but you seem to be rattling through at a rate of knots, you must put some serious hours in, which I for one am grateful for because it's a great thread to follow.

Cheers Simon

Hi Simon,
Thank you, I am working a couple of hours every night after work whilst the better half does the tea. I also manage to get quite a few hours in on a weekend too. Once I have an idea and the parts I can generally rattle through stuff my achiles or less favourite part is the painting. I just love to create and if it's unique even better.
cheers

Hi All,
This is the final layout on the post battle scene, I have pinned all the figures so this build is complete other than some captured equipment to put on the floor.
I have ordered a pot bellied stove and will make a table and a couple of chairs later for the lower farm house room.
I am now starting the build on the road to Arnhem.
cheers
Richie

This is beyond epic. Much better than a Ridley Scott movie......

How long do you think these dios will take?

Don't know mate, I've another 4 to build yet. I've never made an AVF or plane since I was a kid. They are going to be the real challenge.
I break up in just over two weeks and I really want to start painting these figures.
