I've placed a Metal Modeles moratorium on myself and declared that I must not get any more little green boxes until I've painted some of the ones I already have. I don't see that lasting very long. Here's those two beauties in the nude:

The Atelier Maket Facebook page translates Chasseur as "Hunter" to help us poor, afflicted native English speakers. It always makes me say "Duh!" until I realise they mean Chasseur. You'll be wanting the English translation for epaulette or deja vu. My spoken French is quite useless but I was reared on Historex and I know the French words for pretty much every part of Napoleonic kit.

They also have some pix of a Bruno Leibovitz Hussar conversion which I thought I'd share. I'm dumbstruck, it's so good. Which MM kits has he used?

A stunning range of which I have loads of these in my GA and I have yet to see a 'dud' amongst the range which is quite extraordinary and also, a testament to his skills as a sculptor and his subject choices.

I've been trying to work out which kits Bruno has used in his conversion.

I reckon it's the head, legs and sabretache from the Captain of 9th Hussars and the rest from the Guard Chasseurs a cheval officer (sorry, Horse Hunters!) with the horse's legs modified.

i'd say the horse body is that of the officier d'ordonnance

A good spot! You've identified the horse. Only the horse's head comes from the Chasseur. We need 3 kits to make this hussar.

When I was a youngster (many years ago) we had Swoppets. These were plastic models made by Britains Ltd with interchangeable parts. There were Cowboys & Indians and Knights in Armour. I made a mounted Indian brave with half-armour on top, wearing a cowboy hat and firing a sixgun. Wonderful days.

When Mr Leivobitz owned Metal Modeles, you could order from him a custom figure made up of parts from different kits. He would charge the price of a regular catalogue figure for it. Maybe Atelier Market do this too.

I once payed a visit to Mr Leibovitz at his workshop in Seillans and was helped by him to pick the parts needed to build a Lancier Gendarme. What a great time I spent there!

That sounds a lot more fun than playing with Swoppets :)
