I’ve just ordered an Andrea 1/10 Bust and a wooden base
As it’s my first bust.Whats the best way of attaching it the the miniature
I was thinking of brass 12mm brass rod

no need to go this thick. I use something between 3 and 5 mm (whatever I can lay my hands on), certainly would not put anything larger than 6mm diameter between the bust and the base. Perhaps other people have other opinions.

Thanks guys as i’m a novice sorry keep having to ask questions

Bryan....no apologies. It wouldn't be much of a hobby site if questions weren't asked and its members were unwilling to answer. Ask away, mate?

Steve's link has good how to info. I would add don't make the rod too long. The smaller scale the bust is, the shorter the exposed post should be. I don't have any rule of thumb other that it just looks right for the individual bust. You just don't want the bust sitting 6'' off the base.

That's what PF is all about Bryan

Lots of great advice from LH and Paul ......good link from Steve as well

Search here lots on base producers like Petes Bases amongst others

I always try to drill at least 20mm where possible into the bust and 25mm into the base .......

I also put a brass washer top and bottom of the post ...just tidies things up ..you can see on my posts in completed section on PF

Happy fixing and don't forget to share the SBS !

No worries ..look forward to seeing the miniatures and of course the bust

Never liked airbrushing ...as for Kimera ..just got a set so will be giving them a go after our move , my advice is use what you have at the moment and get used to their capabilities and features

Look forward to seeing updates

Happy benchtime

I would also add that brass tube may be better than rod? This allows for excess glue to go somewhere! Cover any seepage with washer, as per Naps advice!

Ian refers to a method I have found useful -- using brass tube rather than rod.

Also, instead of glue, I have had success using two part putty (Milliput, Apoxie and similar). A small rolled ball of the mixed putty goes into the hole in the base, insert brass tube, and the same on the bust. The putty goes inside the tube as well as around it and helps seal the whole mounting. If any excess putty oozes out, it can be removed while soft with no marks or harm.

The one of the beauties of this hobby is that you can do things however it pleases you.

Enjoy!
