Paul Kernan
A Fixture
Company: Aurea Domus Miniatures
Origin: Spain
Topic: Bugler (Lancer of Berg?)
Scale: 1/12
Material: Resin
Pieces: 3
This is the first and most likely not my last purchase from this Spanish Company. Service and communication from the owner (Senor Albert Gros Mascarilla) was nothing less than top-notch. Delivery from Spain to Canada was 8 days. More than acceptable in my book.
First impression is very good. Packaging is minimal but more than adequate. All three pieces arrived with no signs of damage from transit. Sculpting is well done with crisp casting. There is no damage, chipping nor air bubbles on the any of the parts. There is a VERY faint casting line on the bell of the bugle as well as the back of the czapka. In addition, there are a few small lumps of residual resin that will need to be (easily) removed. However, I imagine total clean-up time will not exceed 15-20 minutes.
The bust is of the classic V-shape and there is a definite sense of urgency (Charge!) in the face. It is listed as 1/12 scale and so visually, it looks like a big 120mm or a small 150mm. I placed the 54mm Pegaso Rus Viking beside it for scale. I know there has been discussion on possible uniform options with most of us leaning toward Berg but I think the bust lends itself to be portrayed as a number of different lancer units.
I am not a Napoleonic expert but I am looking forward to painting this, my first Nappy. Highly recommended.
