I've been playing around with some images to see if I can improve the way they look when posted. This is The Fusilier Australian artillery driver painted in acrylics.

Rog - Your artillery driver looks very well painted, but the photography is much too dark. It's a great figure also - one of Steve Warrilow's best.

Normally, to the extent possible, I like to use outdoor lighting when taking figure pictures. Much easier and provides a well-lighted image even in close-ups.

When I am forced to take photos indoors, I usually use one of my free-standing bench lights. I position it so that it lights the figure indirectly by reflecting light off the wall or ceiling. I found that directly lighting the piece with a lamp produced stark shadows and glare and the flash indoors produced unmanageable white glare.

Hope this helps.

All the best,
Dan

Hi Roger, more light (preferably diffused) = better model photographs.

If you've taken a photograph that's a little dark there's a lot that can be done to improve on them using Photoshop or something similar, if you need tips on this end don't be afraid to ask.

I'm looking forward to seeing the figure after you have a chance to lighten it up a bit.
