Hi Guys,I have finally finished painting Phil Waldens sculpt of a Australian Bren gunner/Pacific WW 2.The figure is a 120mm resin casting released through Ozmods scale models.I painted the figure in Vallejo and Maimeri acrylics. The metal parts I painted with printers inks. The ground work was made by using high density styrene caved to shape and of which I applied a coat of Perma fill mixed with PVA glue and brown acrylic paint.I then painted several different shades of brown and green to the muddy ground which was shaded and highlighted. The plants I used were small natural mosses and ferns that were painted in acrylics.I also used some photo etched plants and a small piece of drift wood .When all the ground work was finished I gave it a coat of Winsor and Newton matt acrylic varnish which is not really matt, but gives a nice egg shell finish which simulated the damp humid look.Hope you like him.I can certainly recommend the kit.I have tried to attach the link to Ozmods Scale Models but for some reason is showing an error.I know you can also get the kit through Redlancers.
regards,John:)

Excellent work John. The harmony between the figure and the terrain is exceptional. Hardy

Hello John,

awesome composition, the groundwork is also amazing.
Many thanks for sharing this beautiful work of art:eek:

Hi John

This must be one of the best WW II figures I've ever seen. Excellent painting and ground work. The face is a piece of art on its own. And the way you've weathered the figure and tied it to the ground work is truly remarkable.

Hello,Carl,Hardy,Tony,Pedro,Jay,Mark ,Rob,Ray and Johan. Many thanks to you all for the kind words on the Bren Gunner,I am glad you liked the end result. This would have to be my favorite sculpt of Phil Waldens to date, lots of character to work with in the painting, with an option in the kit of two different heads for personal preference.

Regards to all,
John:)

He's come off well John, you'd have to be happy with him eh! Sit & feel of bren gun works without the magazine as discussed earlier & also can see the small details you have added in the paint such as mud splash, water dribbles on boots etc.

You've done Phil's sculpt proud & really showing it off in it's best light.
Good on ya mate, what's next?

Mike
