Following an email conversation with Dan Morton I decided to take a pic of my 54mm Metal Modeles Sturmer.
I painted this one awhile ago and I don't know how I missed it before but I haven't painted the black stripes on the bayonet knot ;)
Anyway Dan here it is before I go back to work on it. :)

Nice one Roger!!! I'd like to see a close-up of that face. So what company would this guy belong to with yellow and black Troddel (bayonet knot)? I'm sitting here with both my mini Schnauzers on my lap, so it's a bit difficult to type! Next time you post a photo of this one, give him a little more light, please.

All the best,
Dan

Troddel! Thats the word I was looking for. I was just too lazy to get up and look it up.
IIRC the black and yellow troddel was common to all AH troops and was not used in the German manner to distinguish companies.
Can't do anything about close ups or light at the mo I've just put the camera batteries in the bin ;)

Good job Roger.
Is this done in acrylics? If so, what colors did you use for the tunic, trousers, and putees? I too would like to see more pics of this.
Keep up the good work.

G9,
Thanks, the figure was painted using Andrea acrylics. The basis for the colour mixes for the uniform was AC1 Field grey.
I'm afraid I can't remember what I addded to highlight and shade. When I paint I add allsorts to the pallette, there's probably some flesh in there a colour I use alot of for highlighting also grey. I also use a lot of varying shades of brown/sandy colour as washes and glazes.
I'm sorry I can't be more accurate than that. My paint mixing is very much make it up as you go along :)

Thanks Roger,
You have answered my question. I wanted the base color. I am the same with my palette, once I move beyond the base color, I eyeball the highlights and shadows.
Usually this means I am flying by the seat of my pants and have trouble remembering
the mixes. I know what looks right. I just can't explain it later.
I am enjoying these Great War topics.
Keep up the good work.
