Aviattic 1/32 Paul Bäumer 1918

This is Aviatic's 1/32 scale resin figure of Paul Bäumer in 1918 with Jasta "Boelcke". The figure was included with the Premier Edition of their recently released Pfalz D.VIII kit. The figure was based on an earlier sculpt by Doug Craner, and was given a new head. My copy was slightly miss-cast on the face, but I did my best to clean it up and paint it with Vallejo acrylics.

Thanks for that Nigel. It may sound a bit harsh, but I was actually quite disappointed with the figure to be honest. I really hesitate to criticize, but the sculpt and the casting and my overall paint job fell short in my opinion - but happy to see some kind words directed towards it.

I think when you have figures in a diorama/vignette, they don't have to be the same level of painting as a single figure that gets picked up and looked at from every angle. At least that's my argument/excuse anyway...... It's all about how they go together.

The sculpt does look quite difficult to paint because he seems to have gone mad with the folds/creases. They were much less pronounced in the photos of Baumer.
