Young Miniatures bust "B17 Waist Gunner". My first 'from new' figure for a couple of years, although I've done a couple of repaints to practice. A new optician and new specs hopefully will allow me to participate a bit more in future. I'm still not happy with some of the finer work, so resorted to the armour modellers method of applying a dark wash on some of the details.

Hi Dave,
I especially like the face. Even without a close enough look I could be sure of the naturalism on display. The beard is beautifully done!

As a die-hard fan of Young whose wallet has been hole-punched thru and thru, though one who never completes a single bust, I am constantly blown away by the level of details, and totally dig how sometimes dark wash might be an apparent solution. However, if I may, I would really like to take this opportunity to say this out of my own humble experience:

The payoff with the route other than dark wash can be undescribably handsome for Young busts, be it tiny folds or authentically sculpted fur.

I am quite short-sighted. And painting sometimes results in headache. But going the long way is well worth the hours. Great brushes such as those from Boneparte have of course made life slightly easier...

Happy New Year and once again congrats on an accomplished paint job!
