Hi, I'm Simon and have been modelling for many years, starting in the 70's buying Tamiya figures from my paper round money. Bought Saturday afternoon and complete by Sunday morning.

I am somewhat nomadic in my direction, I've painted 54mm (Chota Sahib) never really got on with anything bigger. Flats claimed a decade or so before a few years of gaming mini's followed by 1/35th vehicles which soon turned into dioramas for many years. More gaming mini's for more years before trying my hand at scratch building space ships, heavily influenced by 70's Sci fi book covers, Chris Foss and Co. Now back with 1/35th figures, though now I buy a box of well know brand plastic figures remove all the detail with a dremel, bang a Hornet head on and make something totally different using Magicsculpt. Keeps me out of mischief anyway.

Thanks all for having me here, I will get round posting some of my work, though I am a total techo-phone.

Cheers Simon

Well, welcome to the Planet, Simon! I look forward to seeing your figures!

As far as sci-fi subjects go, have you ever looked at the Maschinen Krieger series of kits? Armored fighting suits of various types, most in 1/20 scale, and with a pretty good group of figures that go with them.

Prost!

Hi Brad, yes I have made a few of the Maschinen Krieger kits and really enjoyed them, they certainly have a good aesthetic and allow a lot of latitude to the painter.

One thing I meant to say in my opening statement, but in keeping with my appalling memory totally forgot. I have been dragoons in writing an article for a club/society journal, only got the photos done so far, but I have found in the past that writing such things is very good for learning to do what one is already doing properly. It makes the writer actually think about what they are doing and why. I say this mostly to give myself no.excuse not to do the same on here, so now I have committed myself I'd best my backside into gear, though it may take a while to overcome my dread of technical stuff like posting pictures etc, yes I am that bad. This is all done on my phone, something I have only recently succumbed to after many years of refusing such a device in my life!

Hi Nap, caught the reply after I finished typing a response to the last one. I will look around and get used to posting etc and pop some of my work up where appropriate. Totally agree about the fun part of the hobby, it keeps me relatively sane most of the time. Cheers Simon

Welcome, Simon to Planet Figure the best miniatures site on the web. Remember it isn't what you paint or how well you paint it, it's that you're having fun painting it. We're glad to have you with us and look forward to seeing your work.

Thanks gents, I have popped a couple of recent figures in an album but not managed much today as I've been duty grandad. I'll have to try and dig some of my flats out from the loft (if they have survived storage) and post them as they represent some of my best work and my last use of oils.
