After the recently completed Rindi figure I wanted another 'simple' paint and after a rummage in the grey army I cam across this fella. Limited edition 75mm resin kit by Tiny Leads (number 11 of 150) It was beautifully presented in a rigid box with historical notes, a card of authenticity, image card , stickerand pin badge! There was also a nice base with the Torii gate and a couple of stone pillars/lanterns.
The figure is a really nice casting although the original scabbard had a couple of stubborn bends in it which wouldn't come out so I carved a new one from a piece of sprue. Although the pillars looked nice there was a bit of a seam on both and when I removed them the original texture was lost so I opted to make a completely new base from DAS with some tank texture grit (which is a very fine sand) and ground balsa dust for moss. I managed to snap off the fan through clumsy handling when the figure was nearly finished which caused a few choice words and a delay of a couple of weeks whilst I played about making a new one. In retrospect it would have been easier to remove the arm holding it and go from there rather than micro surgery fitting it into the gap - ah well
Painted in acrylics as usual and mounted on a base which Nap gave me earlier this year (Cheers mate )
Comments welcome
Have a great Christmas
