Hi everyone,

I used to paint figures a lot in the 1980's and used exclusively testor and humbrol enamel paints. As I am returning to painting figures I am looking at using oils for painting the face and skin tones but am not sure about utilizing enamel or acrylic paints. I have done searches in this forum and there are strong arguments for both types of paints. If I paint with enamel paints I am thinking of sticking with humbrol as I am used to them. If I go with acrylic paints I am thinking of using acrylics vallejo. As to the type of figure I am starting with I chose a 90mm Andrea Minitures of Julius Caesar. So my question to all of you is:

Are there any better enamel paints then humbrol?

Are acrylics Vallejo a recommended paint?

Do acrylics really wear down your brushes a lot?

Any other advice on the acrylic v enamel use?

Once again, I am looking forward to showing you my work and would welcome any advice...after all, it has been over 20 years.

I prefer acrylics, namely Polly Scale but it is pricey

I also use Model master and Tamiya acrylics as they are cheaper and Im always on a budget

I just came back after about 2 years or so as well

If you are used to humbrols why don't stick with them.
Painters like Bill horan and Marijn van Gils are still using them.

Marcel.
