PS--AWESOME website! WELL DONE!!!!

We don't have any retailers or distributors - although our website www.maelstromgames.co.uk ships FREE worldwide and we're a very experienced international retailer as we sell discounted GW,Smog,PP etc. We've been in business 10 years now, so we aren't fly by night, we'll get your goodies to you! :)

We've been asked in multiple threads throughout forum land and via email 'just how big is x, y or z' in relation to our range of BaneBeasts.

A written measurement doesn't really convey the size and even a steel ruler in the shot falls short. Well, now that we have our own range of man-sized minis (well the beastman at 38mm to the eye is a bit bigger than a typical 30-32mm man actually) we can show you! All side by side shots, the beast is the same in all the shots as he is left in place between each shot.

It also gives us an excuse to show off some awesome paint jobs.

A price reduction!

It’s been a while in coming, but with our voodoo ninja bartering skills we’ve managed to reduce the cost of manufacturing our resin miniatures to the point where we can, in fact, pass that saving directly on to you, the customer. This is Good News with a capital G and a capital N, both for customers and for ourselves, because it has been quite frustrating reading the feedback from the general public on the interweb – which seems to focus on the price of the BaneBeasts and the BaneLords, and with some good reason, we have to admit.

If you weren’t already aware, the cost of casting a miniature in resin is quite expensive, for the simple reason that the process requires time, skill and no small amount of materials in a way that casting metal miniatures doesn’t. We knew this when we began creating our superb fantastical miniatures, yet we still plumped for resin because we are, and always will be, about quality miniatures – resin retains the detail and form of the master sculpt, unlike metal, which always loses detail in the final piece and also shrinks. That being said, we have always been conscious of the cost, but now we have arrived at a place where we can reduce that and ensure our miniatures are more affordable.

Thus, you will find most of the BaneBeasts’ recommended retail prices reduced (except for Magágg, who is about right for his cost) by around £10.00, meaning you can get hold of The Terror of Fortriu for £89.99 and our latest creation, Galagaak, for £49.99; and our BaneLords’ recommended retail prices have also been reduced massively, for Brunchaath the Vile has dropped from £12.99 to £9.99 and Cynuise of Old from £14.99 to £9.99. How awesome is that! Additionally, anybody who has pre-ordered Galagaak, Brunchaath and Cynuise will get a refund in line with their new price, although that will be based on whether you used a voucher or not on the Maelstrom Games webstore, of course.

Speaking of the webstore, we have also taken the decision to apply our standard 10% off to the BaneLegions range, bringing them in line with most of the items we sell – thus meaning you can grab Galagaak for £44.99 and Brunchaath for £8.99. The Good News just got better!

So, thanks must go to all of those fantastic people out there who have bought our miniatures in the past, and we hope that those who have wavered because they think our miniatures are too expensive can now take the plunge and grab some miniature awesomeness that you simply can’t get anywhere else!

Rose of Ker-Ys, sculpted by Stephane Simon http://banelegions.maelstromgames.co.uk/?p=466

bnl-002-the-rose-of-ker-ys-u-w-p-01.jpg

THE ROSE OF KER-YS, WITCHLING
In the darkness that is Ker-Ys there are beings that none would wish to encounter, creatures that crawl and beasts that slither, abhorrent monsters of dark thought and darker intent, but to many the sheer depravity of man is the foullest – or, indeed, most enthralling – aspect of that fell city. The Rose of Ker-Ys is a pure embodiment of that perversion, a seductress with little regard for the wants or lives of others, a witchling whose only purpose is to fulfil her desires whatever form they take and with whatever subject they require – man, woman or beast. Her devotees and supplicants are legion both inside and outside of Ker-Ys and her power grows with every soul that falls under her spell, for each seduction she effects is magik of a kind, a puppeteer’s dance that serves to feed her debased virtue and from which few escape from with a sound mind.

Apologies for the lack of painted pics - But we do have Raffaele Picca (last years German Slayer Sword winner and part of the Massive Voodoo expert painter group) working on her at the mo. So pics will follow.

Available to pre-order now.

We currently have the sculptor of Brunchaath working on an alternative weapon for the beastie - here's the concept for the new weapon. (I've had my paint brushes out!) Just a tabletop style job.

Expect something like that.

Greetings all!

My lady and I recently ordered three pieces (two orders) from Tim, Dan, and the gang at Maelstrom, and both orders--ordered a week apart--arrived well-within the fortnight and within a day of each other! Everything was securely packaged, and when removed from the shipping container, looked like they were just picked off the shelf!

But the best was yet to come. . . My lady ordered the Terror of Fortriu for herself, and this is one of the most spectacular examples of design, molding, and casting I have ever seen!!! In a word. . . SUPERB!!! And IMHO, worth every penny.

I can't comment on the other two pieces, as they are for her as well, and the honors belong to her, but I can't wait to see 'em!!!

I could go on, but I just want to reassure anyone teetering on the edge, that these folks are the real deal, and they obviously know their business inside and out.

Here's to much continued success!!!

Augie

For the sake of closure, here's the short and sweet on Oácyning, Lord of the Oak-Enta and Scar-Scath, Fiend of Vermin: PERFECTION!!!!

Scar-Scath is one of the most beautiful castings I have ever seen! I am truly in awe of their mold-cutter/s and caster/s. In spite of the considerable--and deep!--undercuts. . . PRISTINE!!! The bar has definitely been raised. . . beyond the reach of most, I might add.

BRAVISSIMI!!!!

Hi Gordy,

Let me see what I can do about that. . .

As to the packaging. . . it more than reflects the quality of the contents. The 4-color box art is printed on a thin outer "sleeve" box (sealed) that contains a sturdy corrugated box with the goodies. There is very little wiggle-room per se as the pieces are wrapped/bagged in sealed "bubble-wrap" bags. The bags have obviously been carefully laid-out within the containing box, so as to protect, as well as support, their contents. Finally, any freeboard is taken up with a folded piece of bubble-wrap.

A very impressive product on all counts!

Augie

Hey Augie,

Thanks for the feedback, it's always good to hear from customers and happy ones at that!

For the packaging - well we're all hobbyists and often recieved packages ourselves via mail order where we felt the packaging could have been better. So we've made sure that we wrap our product the best we can. After all the pieces cost a lot to produce and this is reflected in the RRP - we're doing the best we can for a quality product so the packaging has to match!

We have bubble wrap bags, (that self seal) for the components, larger kits will have multiple bags, a resin guide (not everyone is used to working with resin) and more bubble wrap around the whole lot - it sounds common sense but not everyone does it!

We're proud of our product so want it to arrive in best condition. I have so far personally packed every product that we have sold in the last 9 months, and in all that time we have only had one mis-pack, I'm quite proud about that. :)

Our newer lines of BaneBeasts all have full colour box packaging with artwork and studio photography shots - we think it's important to show the minis in their best light, and it also helps us when we plan to look at retail stockists in the future.
The BaneLords will be in blisters with a colour insert.

So yes, we're happy you're happy and will strive to do our best going forwards.

Watch out for Monday when we preview a new BaneLord (a foot and mounted knight by Remy Tremblay) and a week today when we preview our next BaneBeast - Euryalia, Queen of Ker-Ys by Allan C!

Cheers

Tim

Thanks Tim, great info and from the website I see alot of designwork goes into each piece.

I'd love to see some day a progress of the raw sculpts and have it added to our article, step-by-step section :)

Have a great weekend!
