I think when it comes to being hsitorically accurate it's hard not to have the action and emotion woven in. This was the biggest motivator for me to build this dio following the description from the book, pretty intense sitation and very discriptive from what I read.
Thx Adrian and for the kind words. As for what's next I'm finishing up the Aghan dio ready for pics and I may share another Nam dio with tons of figures and two gun trucks "Texas Ranger and the Alamo" done back in Jan 2010. That story has three sub-stories which don't detract from each other, but flow quite well with the overall scene. I feel it's pretty much like everyday life, it just happens.
After viewing what the Nordic lads are up to I felt us Yanks need to get more creative with our story telling. I love telling a story with figures more so than armor or anything else.
Thx Victor for the kind words. With 19 figures it was a challenge, but we got er done. NOt an easy task to keep them all within a tight color range at times.
Holy smokes! Semper Fi on this monster. Thanks for sharing the tip on painting the uniforms at the same time to prevent too much variation of colors - great tip!
Hey Thx Tony. This beast was back a few pages, glad ya found it. Low angle close-up shots on the last foggy day of spring really made the difference on this. Some of the Vets said it really added to the realism and zapped em back in time. I like your work, very good stuff!!
