Anybody got pics of 1914 uniforms and equipment for Belgian Chasseur a Cheval?

Here's what I have now -
Mollo and Turner's Army Uniforms of WWI illustration # 30
La Fantassin de la Grande Guerre Gazette des Uniformes #4, Belgian uniforms, etc.
Mirouze's Europa Militaria#3, Belgian infantryman - the shako was very similar and some other equipment
Funcken's Arms & Uniforms WW1, part 2, Belgian Cav 1914
Chasseurs a cheval mobilizing, 1914 - from the Great War Different web page
A Belgian cav tunic from a militaria site
A photo taken of a Belgian Chasseur a Cheval standing on his horse at a road sign, published in the Brit illustrated newspaper "The War Budget" - also from the Great War Different web page

4 very good photos of the appropriate Mauser carbine used by the Belgian cav.

HELP! Almost anything showing the Belgian Chasseur a Cheval uniform and particularly the horse equipment would be most helpful!

All the best,
Dan

Many thanks for the responses guys!

Gary - I'll check the site!

Mertenspeter - A former cavalryman, eh? Ex-USAF myself - 22 years and glad to be retired!!! Just out of curiousity, 25 years ago how was your unit equipped? APCs, armored cars, light tanks? Do you have any contacts that are operating a unit museum that would have some 1914 photos?

All the best,
Dan

Le colback de la cavalerie de la Garde Civique

A partir de 1894 jusqu'en 1914 la cavalerie de la Garde Civique porte le colback. Celui ci est du même modéle que celui des guides mais en peau brun.

Thanks so much, Peter! Your references will be invaluable in my little project. Ross sent me a photo taken from an English illustrated newspaper of the period. The title of the photo is "The Belgian Cavalry at Work". In the photo, a Chasseur a Cheval is standing on his horse's saddle holding a pair of binoculars in one hand. The other hand is grasping the upper part of an ornate 4 points of the compass style iron road sign. A particularly unique method of reconnaisance, not for the faint of heart or the unsteady of horse. Anyway, I'm working on a figure based on the photo. Can't remember if I've posted the photo on my vBench or not, but if not, I'll do so later.

All the best,
Dan

Another little piece of info about the two tunics shown in pics above. The one with the striped convection across the tunic is a parade ground type. The plainer, double-breasted one is for the field. That clears my confusion up some. I thought one was worn by Guides and Lancers and the other by Chasseurs. The 'assist ' goes to bkristof on the WWI forum.

Still looking for a really clear close up photo of the chasseur's shako and particularly the front of the shako above the bill and the little white plume or device or whatever it is. I tried blowing up the clearest pic I had and got exactly nowhere. Help!

All the best,
Dan

Many thanks, Fernand! This figure was completed quite some time ago, but I got quite a lot of help from various folks including Roger De Boeck, who has an interest in all things Belgian and military. He's researching the earliest army formations now and has done a couple figures from the period.

Enjoy PF! It's a wonderful resource!

All the best,
Dan
