Will the remake be any good? we shall have to wait and see, one things for sure though, it'll be visually
spectacular.

Not wishing to put a dampener on this, or other remakes, but Ive yet to come across one that can hold a candle to the originals, IMO..

Why not invest in some new material and stories instead of rehashes? Just my two penn'th, for what it's worth!

The trailer looks tremendous. I always ask myself though.....
Why is there ever any real need for a 'remake' at all?

The chief stuntman who drove the original film's chariot for Chuck Heston was on the radio just last week.
He told how standing in full costume on set during a break, the press came over in an excited gaggle and asked who he was and what did he do in the movie.

Knowing Heston was just behind him lying under a big sun shade with a cold drink he replied.
"Why, I am Ben Hur."
"What?" Said one of the reporters....
"but what about him", pointing at the world famous star.
"Oh he just speaks my words for me"
was his brilliant reply.

Saw it last weekend, not remembering the original very well. Not too much to say about it. Sets look nice and things feel somewhat roman, but it's not more than simple entertainment with standard hollywood approach to interaction between characters, very contemporary. Not sure if they changed the ending in the remake, but that was a bit too goody-goody feel-good.

Not too bad as entertainment, with some spectacular imagery, but definitely not epic either imho.

Haven't heard a good thing about it.Should never have been remade in my opinion, the original is an absolute classic!

Good morning Guys, not having seen the film I can't say wether it will be good, bad or indifferent, but all the great classics were themselves remakes. Robin Hood, Scaramouche, Captain Blood, The Sea Hawk, Last of the Mohicans and Ben Hur had all been done before not to mention the man in the Iron Mask, The Count of Monte Christo and The Dawn Patrol.
We do remakes ourselves examle that new bust of Mel Gibson mad as William Wallace.
Anyway, I suppose it,s just a prejudice, but I prefer real acting to CGI.

The critics panned Star Wars when it came out and look what happened there.
So I never take any notice of the critics, the best critic is yourself.
Regardless of the fact it may suck, I'll give it a go and make my own opinion.
I'm sure it will be a visually entertaining although the story line fall short, how many times have we seen that in a film.
But I'm sure I'll find something of interest.

What is interesting is that arena were the chariot races took place is just a park where folk walk their dogs and let them do their business.
There are trees where the two main columns stood. What a shame there are no ruins left at all.
If the guide hadn't told us what it was we would have been none the wiser.

I believe they have marked out the site now they have found it again.

You never know there's always a chance of a race with a couple of souped up Escort RS2's in that neck of the woods.

Scally's kept nicking the wheels off the chariots.

Yep that was the first time we won the league DIV I championship mate.
An ex-Centurion from Folkestone came up for the game in style by palanquin.
His big butch carrying slaves were signed up.
Sadky, they were so effeminate, they only made it as far as
the ladies team reserves.

Eventually we sold them to the ARSenal.

Still today Goodison Park has hosted more top flight games than any other football ground.

And the largest collection of hub caps, coach and chariot wheels ever.
