Beneito Waterloo vignette

I am about to start this piece and am looking for advice for basing it. The boxart shows the Hussar lying on a French standard. I feel this is so unlikely I am reluctant to go down this route. I have considered covering the flag with groundwork or painting it as a blanket or an oilcloth wagon sheet.

Has anyone done this particular kit and what did you do with the flag?

Hi. I haven't done this kit but I know it well.
I'd be inclined to regard the scene as more a descriptive representation rather than an historically accurate event.
I'd tend to do it as is and regard it as a visual metaphor for the outcome of the battle.

Thanks guys, I think on reflection I will go with the French standard as it does add to the visual impact. I am building this kit for display at home and am not looking to represent a historical fact. I don't even know if the Kings German Legion and 10th Hussars were anywhere near each other at Waterloo.

I haven't seen the last image Kev posted before, it certainly evokes an after battle grittiness. I think I will aim for something between the two.

The flag's a bit OTT, a canvas or else groundwork would, IMHO, be better.
