Bercheny Hussar Bust
Sculpted by Nick Dransfield
Box art example painted by Sang-Eon Lee
Scale 1/9th Resin bust kit
Steve Kirtley of S.K. Miniatures has sent me the next of one of his new releases, this beautiful bust depicting Bercheny Hussar bust.
The kit comes well protected in a sturdy box with all parts sandwiched between foam layers for protection during shipping. The kit consists of three resin parts, the bust, the pedestal base and the feathers for the hat. There is a painting guide included as well as some very nice box art to use as a guide.
The main part of the bust is very clean cast and the level of detail is very high. There is a single mould plug to remove from the top of the hat and a small amount of cleaning up at the back of the head, a very easy task for most modellers.
Here we can see the exceptional quality of the casting and high level of detail that has been sculpted into all areas of the bust. I have shown the face from all three angles, there is a scar on the left cheek.
Another view of the lower part of the bust shows the head of the wolf skin, straps and some metal work, again very nice detail and casting.
The only other part of the kit is are the feathers for the hat which need to be removed from the small mould block. There is a small locating point on the hat to accommodate this.
Conclusion: Another very nice release from the expanding range of figures and busts from S.K. Miniatures. The kit is very clean and well cast with only a minimal amount of clean up and removal of the mould plugs. Another different choice of subject and highly recommended for anyone interested in this period of history or just likes painting busts.
