I'm working with some custom cut polystyrene shapes and really require a very solid/rigid outer shell that I can then paint with acrylic. They need to withstand denting if dropped from a low height or say if being pressed. At the same time I want something that is relatively safe to work with indoors so I have to rule out most resins.
I've come across a variety of hardeners online that I know nothing about but these appear to be some sort of hardened shell & are either more well known in the US and UK...because I'm based in the UK, I would prefer using one that is fairly easy to get hold of.
I just wondered if anyone has used any of these below and give give any feedback or maybe there are others I haven't mentioned which might be better. I'm looking for one that requires minimal coats and something that cures preferably within 24 hours.
Rosco Foamcoat (USA)
Floracraft smooth coat (USA)
Foam Armour
Eze-Kote
Mod Podge Hard Coat (purple)
Styroplast (USA)
Many thanks for any help.
