Completed Best Soldiers - Musketeer

Started to paint this fella last weekend, had two sessions on the face, I consider it done. It is a nice sculpt but the resin is pretty brittle, has a lot of mould lines and casting imperfections, so I spent a decent amount of time cleaning up and rebuilding stuff (added some details to the sword).

Best Soldiers have some nice figures but their website is a nightmare to try and order from. I've abandoned while trying to order on several occasions. It's a hotchpotch of pop ups and flags,much too complicated for a simpleton like me. Is it me or do others have the same problem? I also understand that not everything that is shown on the site is actually in stock which also make me very wary.

Not just you, mate. Their site is a bit rubbish. I also don't like how they force you to create an account and give them your details before you can actually order anything.

Funnily enough I wanted to place an order there myself at the weekend (having bit the bullet and created an account), but when it got to the checkout stage the 19 Euros shipping for a single 75mm resin foot figure killed it.

Hi Steve, I noticed last night that Historex have a good number of the Best Soldiers offerings for sale, but not the Musketeer at the moment. Maybe that's the way to go?

Hi Keith, reason I turned to Best Soldiers was because they have recently taken on the Medieval Forge range, which I used to get from IL Miniatures in Germany until he suddenly decided to stop selling to the UK via his site late last year - and in several e-mail exchanges, he still hasn't given me a logical reason as to why. He said some waffle about he'd have to register for VAT here, but that makes no sense given that his site still allows customers in far-flung, non-EU places like Chile, Iceland, Australia and even North Korea (yes - really!) to place orders.

So that just left Best Soldiers as an option, but if they're going to charge daft money for shipping with no guarantee that the items are even in stock when you place an order, I'm not going to bother.

There is a trade embargo on Russian imports at the moment due to some disagreement in Ukraine, I believe.

It's not a complete embargo by any means. The West is still trading with Russia, albeit at a much reduced level compared with pre-invasion, and it's not as straightforward as it was.

Update: done the hat (I will probably push the highlights even further to create some more tear&wear) and feather and started on the coat, which obviously needs some blending in the next session.
