A Fixture
This is one of the latest releases from Bestsoldiers, "Officer of Cuirassiers" (1807), sculptor Antonio Zapatero Guardini. The kit is 75mm in scale and consists of fourteen white metal parts and a piece of lead foil that is used to make straps. All parts come sandwiched between three layers of foam in a sturdy box.
A close inspection of the parts show a good level of casting and detail with only a minimal cleanup of some minor mould lines.
The upper and lower parts of the body are a one piece casting, the head is a separate part, we can see in the photo the level of detail sculpted into the face and the quality of detail in the casting.
Three views of the hat attached to the head, fit is good. It is held together with blue tak for the purpose of the review.
The plume locates nicely in the small depression at the front of the hat.
Both arms are an integral part of the left and right sides of the cloak.
Test fitting of the arms and front part of the cloak shows a very good fit with no visible gaps.
The rear of the cloak is cast in two sections. Test fitting of the two parts shows a good fit with only a hairline joint at the top of the cloak that can be filled with a small amount of filler or glue.
The sword, scabbard and left hand are cast as one, close inspection shows nice detail in the sword and the remainder of the smaller parts of the kit.
Conclusion:
Another nice release from Bestsoldiers in a very popular scale. All parts are well cast and there is the usual minimal clean up of parts. Test fitting of some parts shows a good fit. The figure has a nice pose and will be very appealing to anyone interested in the Napoleonic era, Higly Recommended.
