I was very fortunate to meet Bill last weekend at Darlington. Last year I commisioned a piece by the man himself and I got to collect him at the show. It was nice as Bill asked me for a subject and we agreed a revisit to the Crimea, after all, that's how I first saw his work as a teenager. I don't think it has been posted on here. My pictures are snap shots from the cabinet, I wanted it safe as soon as possible. A huge thanks to Bill and very proud to own him, I'm considering a generic art page on the Cgs site to show great pieces that I think should be shared.
To be clear, this has no connection to Cgs other than I (Gra) own it and I just thought it deserved and people would like to see him as new pieces by Bill rarely get shown on PF.
If anyone would like back pictures or better I will happily take them.

It looks a stunning figure graham (y)

A really fine piece of work - nicely posed with the eyes looking up to the heights of Alma from one the great masters of the hobby. Have you any more shots from other angles?

Chris

Hi Chris, I can take as many as anyone likes mate.
I have learnt so much studying the piece. Please give me a couple of days as I need to photograph some box art anyway and I will get him on a black background and proper pictures. Thank you Chris.

What can I say,the man is a living legend.I belong to the generation of modellers that have been brought up with Mr Horan as a basic inspiration.Again, the man is a legend and all his works the collective legacy of our hobby.

Oda.

Hi Mate it was a fantastic piece to look at, he did a great job for you. I bet your glued to the cabinet just looking at it. Bill is a true master and what a joy to have a piece of his work in your collection. it looked great in the flesh he still has the magic touch.

looking forward to seeing more photos of him soon mate

cheers

Gra, firstly, it was great to see you and your dad at Sword and Lance mate, enjoued our brief chat, as always.

What a lovely piece that is.

The lad has a future in this hobby that's for sure;)

Hope your trip back was ok, you and Akex had the furthest to go I think.

See ya again soon mate.

Paul.

Very disappointed to miss S&L and see the Man Himself, but unfortunately committments domestic prevented it.

That's a sweet piece Gra, and you are right to be proud of him. As others have said, B.H. is one of the greats and has been an inspiration to most of us at some point along our painting journeys. Good to know he's still active and a pity he's not a member here. Look at the stuff he's done over the years and it still holds up against today's best painters, in a hobby in which the bar seems to be getting raised all the time.
