My new work - US soldier - Vietnam ,Excelent 90 mm Pegaso models - black soldier version. Paint acryl and oil.

Nice work. The skins tones are excellent.
But I don't think you should be referring to someone black as boy. It's offensive and regardless of their age these were men that fought in that war not boys. I'm sure it was not intentional.

The flesh looks good, the groundwork also.

The green looks rather lurid at this stage, but I'm guessing it'll be toned down during the painting process.

Yes Steve. Green is acryl base. Next step - painting and shading green oil colour

That is some really nice work Martin !! I look forward to seeing it completed. I do have a question though. What is your opinion on the helmet shape? When I first saw this figure announced the helmet just did not look right to me . There is something a little off about it that has kept me from getting one. Since you have one in your hands and can observe it from every possible angle, I would really appreciate your view point .

@Joe - I have this figure in the grey army and I'm inclined to agree with you. It's a lovely figure but I'm not 100% convinced by the helmet either (although I don't claim to be any sort of expert).

You get a choice of two heads, a Caucasian and an African-American, and test fitting the helmet on both it does appear to sit a little high on the head - more so on the Caucasian head I think. The shape looks to be slightly "off" as well, though as I say I'm not an expert and would also be interested to read what others think.

Excellent, I tried painting a dark skinned figure ages ago and gave up in despair, he never ever looked right, then I see this and feel their is hope.

The skin tones look very good. I had one of these, "steel pots" my first year in the army and I have to agree that there seems to be more of a "duckbill?" (if that's the proper term) to the shape of the edge. Maybe its just me, its been 20+ years. Otherwise the figure look great so far. This is the motivation I need to start painting different races.
