did the black watch in Belfast in the seventies wear the red hackle in the t.o.s. or did they wear the badge or did they wear a tartan patch behind the badge, also what did they wear on their uniforms, did they wear tartan sleeve patches / name tags etc./badger

Red hackle only in the TOS. No name tags or tartan patches on the uniform either mate. Hope that helps you out.
The only other thing worn was the "ZAP CODE" on the inside flap top left pocket of the combat jacket. Not that you will need to do that on a figure.

thanks barrie, I went to balhousie castle today to try and get details but they were not too helpful, which disappointed me as I thought that would be the best place to go? never mind. how is the gandamak figure coming on/badger

Bit of a bummer about the staff at the castle not being able to help out much. Would probably be a different case if Ronnie (chopper) Proctor was there. Mind you, they were prob still suffering from the Burns night supper lol.
The zapcode was different for each person. It was a tag sewn onto the inside flap of the top left pocket of the cobat jacket as said above. It consisted of the persons blood group and first letter of surname and last four numbers of that persons serial number.
For example, H-0586 B-NEG. Some would pen it on to their first field dressings also.

Barrie.
