After a longer time, here´s my forthcoming with the Black watch Tartan. In the meantime I was busy with the brush, but only on kitchen- and bathroomwalls (my "Chief" ordered me to do).
Think, it´s dark enough now. What´s your meaning?

Cheers Thomas

What a fine job! I assume that you are basing it on Pierre Turner's fine pic in the second Crimean Osprey. (196). The colour of the kilt is just right. The "modern", more vivid dyes for kilts did not replace the traditional ones until after 1860.
One very minor suggestion. Turner does not include the sgian-dubh that Black Watch officers wore in the top of the stocking matching the dominant hand. The Gaelic means "hidden', not "black" knife, so it isn't very obvious, but it adds interest. I looked at a number of Scottish uniform books, but the best info. and illustrations are in the Wikipedia article, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sgian-dubh It does not mention, though, that Black watch officers were wearing it since about 1844. This is mentioned in the Osprey Black Watch book that you probably have, and shows it worn in several plates
Good luck! I shall follow your progress with great interest.

Very nice work. This is coming along nicely. I like the kilt now that you have darkened it.
