This has been one of the best threads on here for ages. Lots to see and be inspired by.
When finished, this will be superbe!

As for skin tones for black skin, I've done a few and always enjoyed the different palette from Caucasian skin. I'd go with what feels right.
There are myriad instructional videos on this topic online.

I agree there , perhaps push the highs slightly/ add a tiny bit to f red to the mix for cheeks

All credit to you , not the easiest of uniforms , nice start on the white like the facings as well

You're rigtht.
My teacher told me to add highlights on the face, the "cordon du bonnet à poil" (gold) and finally in the white.
I will, but not sûre for the face right now... Maybe when he'll teach me how to paint black faces.

Here's a little progress
I am disappointed with the color of the boots which looks too much like the one used for the uniform.
But the colors are different...
The white isn't finish yet.
I will use the oil now for the face and the boots.
Maybe for the white later ?
