OK people,

You may remember I asked about painting blonde hair a while ago, and here's the reason why!
I've tried to do this with Citadel acrylics, but just can't get it right! (the rest of the non-flesh areas are/will be painted in Citadels) so I'm thinking of wimping out & going back to oils for this one.
Any suggestions?

Cheers

Simon

In the Diana´s hair i applied a English Khakis as base, and then yellow whit a spot of white in many times , if these can help you go ahead

Simon,

I use Citadel paints from time to time. I recently painted a Gen. Custer figure & used Citadel's Bubonic Brown as the base color but then dry brushed the hair with Vallejo's Flat Yellow, #953. The results, IMHO, were pretty decent. If I can get a good photo, I'd like to post it in the gallery sometime soon. Hope this helps.

Thanks chaps,

a few good solutions there!

I might try Mike's suggestion first, as I was planning on this being my first figure in acrylics (apart from the flesh!)
I'll do some more to this at the weekend and scan the results! (still no camera :( )

Cheers

Simon

BTW, Guy, don't know if you can see the wrist-band clearly enough in the pic, but that is what I meant when I described how I hid the bad join at the wrist. i used the existing bracelet as one edge & "teased" the other edge up a bit when the putty had cured a bit. the pattern was created with a "C" profile along both edges (pointing inwards) and crosses in the middle, it looks sort of Celtic ;)

Simon,
Here are my 2 cents, ;) I used on my German in Mess dress, see the gallery a base coat of English Uniform + Dark sand. Then went up on the highs with dark sand and the highest added a touch of off white, the shadows were just more EU then a touch of burnt umber. These are the Vallejo's acrylics.

Joe,

Thanks, those Vallejo colours just happen to be included in the online shopping basket I have saved, that I just happen to have left details of somewhere Mother Christmas (the Wife!) can find!

Maybe I'll wait to see if the ploy worked!

I keep a loose leaf "want book" all year long and the wife has looked at it recently. Naturally the ones I like the most was the first page. She also talked to our daughter on the phone and the "want book" was overheard to be mentioned. As some of you may of found out, there's nothing worse that getting a kit for christmas that you know when you open it, that it'll never come out of the closet. Had that happen too and started the "want book"
