Hi all!

Finished this marvellous and beautifully simple bust I got from SKMiniatures by Bodi. The sculpting is bold and the face is that of a bruiser and a fighter, I imagined him as a unit boxing champion and a bit of a nutter :)

This has taken about 12 days from spraying the base flesh colour to finish so it served the purpose, quick and simple and Fun!

:)

Great painting. Simple busts are the hardest to paint and you did so well. Congratulations.

Great face tone Mark.
Skin seems to have gloss in me.
Was the gross painted?
Or a problem on the expression?
If you tell me, I'm happy.

hello
simply said it again smashing this chp has really an battered face but that brings character.one can rely think how heworks in the cramped room of the stug ramming home grenades.
you have mastered this bust to its best llok at the hairline or the matrace on the chest
would for me an sure gold medal candidate (y)

Nice work here Mark! I've always thought this chap had a huge mellon! You've done him justice. The chest hair, the flesh tones and 5'oclock shadow, all well done.

Another fantastic paint my friend. Those figures from Bodi are very impressive.(y)

A master!

If my right hand and my brush go the way I aspire them to, and if I am more knowledgable with colours, this is the kind of work I would have wanted to come up with.

That's a lot of ifs so I am just downright jealous.

Mark,

He's a corker! I can imagine him being like Tiny from the Sven Hassel novels or Leo Kessler's Schulze character - great to see this bust brought to life like this.
You really nailed the field-grey colour of his cap, & the backings for the eagle & cockade. Super piece of work, Congratulations!

Cheers,
Chris(y)

Excellent paintwork Mark!
You've managed to get quite a rich pallette on such a basically simple bust.
Might be your best face so far!?

Cheers,
Adrian

chest hair and many thanks ...

Since a few have asked....

The chest hair is made by mixing AV Burnt Umber with water at about 4:1 paint to water, do a set of hair lines with a 5/0, don't cross any lines and try to get a good mix of angles. dries in a couple of seconds.
Add another drop of water and repeat, this time cross the first layer but not the new one, add another drop and repeat, I did about 8 mixes so the final one would be about 12:1 and virtually invisible HTH

Roman ... Many thanks :)

Mitsutaka ... Thank you! the gloss is painted on to make him look a little sweaty and greasy :)
