I painted this wonderful 75mm figure by Medieval Forge about a year ago but wasn't 100% satisfied with it so it underwent some revision now and was moved to a final base.

-> The flaccid flagpole was straightened again with hot water and bending it - it will never look 100% right and I now understand why most people chose the shield for the left hand instead, but it's a decided improvement and it seems to hold for now. I still feel that the figure is significantly more imposing with flag than the shield but that's just me.
-> At the suggestion of @Nap weathered the shield slightly. Mostly some pigments to give it less of a "just been painted" look - I didn't want to overdo it on this one.
-> I got marginally better at leatherwork so the shoes were repainted.
-> The gilding on some of the armour and weapons lacked lustre so that was redone as well with a better paint, and the tunic changed colour from a bright orange to a darker green.
-> The cloak looked glossy because of the red ink I used so it was treated with AK Ultra Matt, didn't know this very useful product at the time.
-> Some more touch ups here and there, removal of a sneaky mould line, and of course groundwork.

The moss on the rocks is enamel, all the rest is acrylic.

The flag shows the personal colours of Racek Kobyla of Dvorce who was Royal Hetman, Burgrave of Vysehrad, known for his shrewdness and guerrilla tactics during the dynastic squabbles that plagued the country after the death of Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV. He eventually got lynched by a Catholic mob because of his Hussite sympathies in 1416, shortly before the beginning of the terrible Hussite Wars.

Initially wanted to do the arms of the Lords of Talmberg on it - I find their water lilies, arranged in a heart shape, such a nice heraldic motif but it was beyond my skill on the flag so I just painted a spare shield from another kit and placed that.

Both of these historical nobles are protagonists in Kingdom Come: Deliverance which is set in 1403 near Prague and was the inspiration for the project.

Thanks for reading,

Superbly well done, I'm glad you dusted this off and gave it another go. The only way to deal with limp flag poles is to replace the pole with brass or steel rod, tricky but stable.

Cheers Simon

Cheers Simon.
I've never done that before. If it starts bending again I'll give that a try. I'll probably also need to learn how to replace resin blades because I'm getting a bit sick of straightening them and then seeing them deform again after a few weeks.

I usually make my lances from brass rod, flag poles need to go far enough into the flag to support the weight. I have seen photo etch sword blades but can't for the life of me remember who makes them.
