After having this bust in my grey army for about 18 months I've decided enough is enough and taken the plunge to get him finished, I'd never really taken an interest in this piece before but it was while I was at Euro Militaire in 2012 that I saw 2x off these busts in the competition room that really blew me away, both busts were painted slightly differently but the finish on both pieces IMO was beautifully done and well deserved their awards, the pieces were painted up by Brian Snaddon and Steve Kirtley, for anyone new to the planet site and reading this post I've decided to add the photographs of these 2 stunning pieces, these pieces were what inspired me to purchase this piece from Steve at SK,if I could produce anything near the standard of these 2 pieces I will be a very happy man.

It is a 1x piece casting by Castle Miniatures produced in a grey resin and sculpted beautifully by Yury Serebryakov, the casting is very good with some minimal clean up round the collar and Budenovka (hat),the scale is 1/9th - 250mm.
One thing I did to the bust during the clean up process was to add the greatcoat collar insignia patches, these I just made from Milliput, the insignia for these troops at the time were colour coded,Red for Infantry - Blue for Cavalry - Black for Artillery, the colour code would also apply to the star insignia on the hat.
Once cleaned up I primed the piece with Halfords Grey Primer and left it overnight to dry, following this I added 2 thin coats of GW Cadian Fleshtone and dried this off between applications with the hairdryer, once the flesh base was completed I added Humbrol RC417 Off-white to the eye areas which was then followed by lining the bottom of the eye with GW Doombull Brown and the top with Humbrol RC401 black + GW Doombull Brown.
The pupil was placed in with the above black/brown mix and once dry I added GW mournfang brown followed by GW skrag brown to give the eye some depth,i finished off by applying a white catchlight to the eyes using Tittanium White oil which was applied using a sewing needle.

This is where I'm upto at present, will be adding more between night shifts ,many thanks for looking, all coments and crtisism are welcome, this is a bust I would highly recommend, the details for anyone interested I have added below.
