Hi
Just finished Young's Bomber Command Bust. He's in the June monthly figure comp section also.
I scratch built the goggles (after grinding off the moulded ones) from plastic card, lead foil wire and putty. I also corrected the truncated para release to a WW2 fully round one. All of the versions I have seen painted have depicted him wearing a cotton Sidcot suit, but it can't be a Sidcot and must be a leather Irwin as the sheepskin liner extends into the lapels. Sidcots had a detachable sheepskin collar liner only.
There are some very well painted version of this around, the box top being a good example, but people seem to have got a bit confused over the various items he wears such as the webbing and parachute rear and assumed that they are part of the suit and painted them to match. I spent a lot of time researching Life's pilot figure so had a lot of info already available to me for this one.
Cheers
Neil
