Just discovered this over on the Internet movie database - it's going to hit the cinemas this October.

...and the trailer on YouTube

The historians among us have to be very, very strong now...

Cheers

Yeeess! Well, on this trailer, I note the Roman officer shouts "Fire!" to the archers, not a traditional way of ordering the loose of arrows, but, who knows ?Maybe Romans did shout "Ignis"..... Be interesting to see how the sackings of Camulodunum, Londinium, and Verulamium are handled, let alone the final confrontation.

Oh well, on the bright side Jesse Johnson's (Director) movies are all the same high action, low plot formula so it will be entertaining viewing. At least keeping it away from mainstream Hollywood means they weren't forced to make her black and gay.

The pose of the queen on that poster image would make a wonderful bust though, I wonder if Sid Naique has seen it yet?

The comment about being “forced to make her black and gay” is completely out of order and unnecessary!

The last time we had a 'thing' here about a film was when Ridley Scott announced
'Napoleon'. One of the best things to come out of that for me was when Alan tipped
me off about a couple of other films that I'd missed (bought both Alan and loved 'em).
Not sure if it's productive to get all hot and bothered with a movie about Boudicca.
After nearly two millennia who can be certain of what happened - in reality she
probably looked more like Jimmy Nail than La Kurylenko anyway....but I know who
I'd rather look at......:)

Still true though! There does seem to be a compulsion these days to shoehorn identity politics and "right-on" lecturing (sometimes subliminal, sometimes overt) into movies and TV shows, even where there's no need for it and it doesn't reflect actual reality.

Roman history is my favourite period and as long as the film itself is enjoyable, I can live with any historical errors and "not the correct type of Imperial Gallic helmet style" comments etc. Both the 'Barbarians' (Teutoburg 9 AD) and the HBO 'Spartacus' series' of recent years were riddled with inaccuracies - if 'Spartacus' represented the actual carnage of the Roman 'games', then the empire would have run out of gladiators after about 6 months! - but were nonetheless very entertaining.

Just like with historical figures in the hobby, don't get too absorbed with 'paralysis by analysis' because if you do, you will never watch nor paint a single thing.

Gary

Can only hope its an entertaining film regardless of any errors.
I too wondered if Sid Naique is going to add this to his range.

The producers might not have bowed to political correctness, but I hope also that they don't make it look like a rock video. The History Channel once had an episode of one of their series and it featured Boudicca. It looked like a heavy metal video. Smoke, backlighting, etc. I expected Nigel Tufnell to come out and say, "But ours go to 11."

Of course, it was the History Channel, but still...

Prost!

I get the feeling Hollywood should be renamed Numptywood.
They're making a live action re make of Snow White and the 7 Dwarves, but are changing the story to fit in with the modern way of life.
They are under the impression that Prince Charming in the original Disney film comes across as a stalker. Really.
It's a fairy tale. Are these people real. I'm really losing faith in the human race.

I must add, thankfully, there are some pretty entertaining films being made.

Hollywood has always been mostly interested in making money. So it has, since time immemorable, produced films that hurt nobody* (not even solitary brain cells) by following whatever the latest fashion has been. Good cowboys and bad Injuns; good planters and goofy slaves; heroic Nam vets and evil Russkies, and so on. It has always been Numptywood. And sometimes it is even entertaining...

Karl

* "nobody" of course only refers to your target audience. Black, Hispanic, Native Americans, Vietnamese and other Asians, Russians etc. were game. As a German I have never really felt well represented by all those endless Nazi stereotypes in war films of the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, noughties...

Can I remind everyone please that this meant to be a modelling forum and not the place for highly charged writing such as this.

NRG, don’t quite get the highly charged writing comment you made. I was responding to the post about a future movie and also following on from other posts which stated movies are being sanitised in some way theses days. Nothing highly charged about it if thier was I’m sure thier would have been quite a few posts about it and then it would have been moderated.

I was posting my view of the current situation with regards to movies being watered down and the lack of sense which film producers seem to have. We are our own judges on what we wish to see and read don’t like it don’t read it or go see it simple as that.

I’m fully aware it’s a modelling site but sometimes other subjects crop up and I for one like to read the views of others, sometimes I agree and other times not. With out debating issues you never move forward and it’s a form of censorship.

There was no adverse comments about the post I put up and no one has left the site because of it. It was just an observation of the way the movie industry seems to be changing, and in my opinion not for the better.
