Although I did not partake in this venture; I find Martin's information very interesting.....

Thanks - at times it pays to be a

I always despair at the lack of accuracy in some figures , but do understand cost can play a great influence in the result.
Full on action pieces from paintings don't always work as the backdrop is invariably missing and plays an important roll
in the overall effect.
A great example of this is Gericault's Leftenant Dieudonne , a superb painting on canvas but seems to fall flat in three diamension
despite some super depictions and painting.

Buying off plan can be very disapointing at times , the realms of converting and correcting are two different issues ,
There are plenty of examples the larger scale stuff lacking detail of late ; for me the larger the scale the better the detail should be " is that not the whole point of going up the scales "

Good to this kit in resin and even better you are highlighting the changes and additions you are doing , great reference pictures here as well and well answered questions by yourself from other members .

Look forward to seeing this with paint on...French or German first ? ......following with interest

Thanks for sharing

PS The Cuirassier would make a great bust as well with the helmet

Great mods Martin, should be an excellent vignette.

Cheers, Ski.

Thanks for leaving comments, gentlemen!

Ronaldo, I understand where you are coming from. Our small market for figures since years is in a way flooded with new releases - many of high quality designed by extremely gifted people. The inherent competition to survive gets stronger and stronger for small companies and every release bears a commercial risk - especially if it covers a theme "off the beaten track". This is the case with the "Dance of Death". To make it happen it was necessary to put a pledge and therefore "buy off a plan" customerwise. As it was done by a renowned sculptor and a reliable casting service you could have faith that you would get a nice model. Still sculptors like Carl Reid have a tight schedule and because the model is not from a well covered period (within our hobby) I don`t know what references were available to him. "High speed sculpting" leads anyhow IMHO never to the very best results as smaller anatomical errors or missing or wrong details happen more often. Nevertheless I would not have been able to pull off these figures out of a blob of putty by myself and so I am happy with what I got. - As I now could show the contents of the kit nobody reading the thread should any longer be surprised what he gets if he decides to buy a copy.

Ski, thanks, I hope it will turn out as I have in my mind.

Kevin,
I think I will tackle the Prussian first but honestly I like both of them with their new heads (which are converted Scale 75 spare heads with changes around the eyes, corner of the mouth and new mustaches)
The original ones are ok but were not entirely to my taste (a bit overly expressive similar to caricatures) and so I savaged the kit and wedged them out. If you like them or the head without helmet (which I like best out of the box) for a 75mm bust they are yours:D.

original heads and the converted replacements (yellow stuff is A&B putty):
