Beautiful work Brian, I have followed your work on MedRom and find your technique very interesting. I will be doing something somiliar in groundwork with a Seminole Indian.

Hi Brian, glad to see some of your work!

The figure looks excellent; really love the heavy look of the chainmail and the well treated leather. Oils?

What I really like though is the groundwork. Is that static grass? Looks more realistic than that!! The channels running through it really work in adding interest to the base.

Nice one!

Rob

Brian-

Glad to see you here! I have followed some of your threads over in MedRom.
I especially like the cellyclay groundwork info you gave over there. I think many pF'ers would enjoy that as well.

Post more of your work. It's excellent :)

Keith

Ahhhh just read the thread over on MedRom; answered all my questions.

I use celluclay (PDI Models have it in the UK, and they're about 7 miles from my house.......) and really like the stuff!
However, never tried the static grass on static grass trick - will give it a go!

Brian,
Great work...acrylics or oils?
How did you achieve the grass effect..care to share your technique?

All the best

Patrick

Looking good Brian, looking forward to sharing a few of those techniques :) the Planet is a kewl hang out, enjoy your stay.

Excellent work on this figure Brian. I really like the groundwork as well. The chainmail looks fantastic.

Welcome aboard Brian. Great figure. That chain mail looks fantastically realistic.

Thanks to all of you who commented on my figure.THe figure is by Pegaso ( an Irish knight) it comes with a cracker of a bare head and the one i used being the full helm version
The mail is really well sculpted and on this occasion i painted it in form i.e. if it was a solid piece, shading and highlighting as you would if it was made of cloth, then adding washes to fill in the holes in the mail.
The static grass treatment is really straight forward .After adding the grass in the normal manner (i use thinned white glue) wait until this is totally dry then use the same procedure adding static grass on top of the first lot ,leave until it starts to dry and with a toothpick tease it into tufts etc
I'll send some more pictures taken from different angles .Could anybody tell me how to send more than one picture at a time
Yes i paint only in oils
Brian

Hi All
You'll have to excuse the quality of the photographs but i bought my first Digital Camera a few weeks ago and haven't mastered it as yet including the lighting which i find quite difficult in getting it spot on but i'm enjoying experimenting
All part of the fun
Brian

Good to see you've worked out the multiple pic posting!

The pics look pretty good, considering as you say you've just got a digital camera!
Excellent to see more of the groundwork, I really like it - I'll be trying the static grass method myself later today!
